St. Armand's is less a beach and more a destination in the middle of one. Lido Beach is minutes away by car or a pleasant bike ride, and the quieter South Lido nature area is a little further along the same island. Many people pair a beach morning with a Circle afternoon or evening.
The Circle sits right on the John Ringling Causeway, so it's a quick trip to downtown Sarasota one way and to Lido and Longboat the other. It's very walkable once you're there — leave the car parked and explore on foot. Parking around the Circle can get tight at peak times, so aim for earlier in the day or earlier in the evening.
The Circle's distinctive ring layout and its statuary trace back to the 1920s development era, when the surrounding keys were being connected and shaped into the resort community they are today. That heritage is still visible in the design, and it's part of what gives St. Armand's a sense of place that most shopping districts lack.
